Philadelphia Inquirer Article Showcases PPMC Blood Bank in Feature on Gun Violence

In Philadelphia, more than 1,000 people have been shot in each of the last four years, and nearly one in five die. 2019 likely will be even worse. As part of a larger feature on gun violence, the Philadelphia Inquirer showcases the Penn Presbyterian Medical Center trauma team, which deals with more than 300 gunshot victims a year. Michael Atweh, Director of Operations for Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, is a member of this team. He oversees a nearly 20-person team that operates the blood bank at Penn Presbyterian.
