Visit to Department Facilities by UK Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Health Lord James O'Shaughnessy

October 05, 2018

As part of a fact-finding and listening tour, Lord James O'Shaughnessy, the UK Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Health, visited Penn Medicine recently to share insights about cancer-fighting innovations, Penn-developed immunotherapies, and learn about the global reach of Penn Medicine's efforts to transform patient care. During the visit Lord O'Shaughnessy and his group also stopped by the Center for Advanced Cellular Therapeutics (CACT) and the Department's Clinical Cell and Vaccine Production Facility (CVPF). The CVPF manufactures cell and gene biotherapeutics and has been accredited by the Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT) since 2008. As a shared resource within the Center for Cellular Immunotherapies (CCI) and the Division of Transfusion Medicine and Therapeutic Pathology within the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, the CVPF supports numerous investigational new drug (IND) protocols.
