Anna Moran, MD, Clinical Assistant Professor of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, is included in this year's American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) 2014 “Top 40 under 40” list. The newly inaugurated award honors the top 40 pathologists, residents, and laboratory professionals under 40 who are making significant contributions to the profession and who represent the achievements and qualities important to the pathology and laboratory sciences fields. Dr. Moran's profile is included as part of the ASCP online showcase of the future generation of leaders.

Dr. Moran completed a residency in anatomical pathology and clinical pathology at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, followed by fellowship in cytopathology at Drexel Medical College in Philadelphia. She then joined UPHS, where she practices at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center. Dr. Moran has served as ASCP Resident Council Chair and ASCP Fellow Council Chair. As Lead Physician for Performance Improvement at PPMC, she led a project to improve troponin turnaround times on 3rd shift. Within four weeks, her laboratory reduced the turnaround time reporting of troponins to less than 1 hour for more than 95 percent of its specimens, earning the recognition as one of two top projects system-wide at Penn Medicine.
