Irving Nachamkin, DrPH, MPH, D(ABMM), Professor and Director, Division of Laboratory Medicine, recently served on a Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Advisory Panel to discuss recommendations for effective reprocessing of endoscopes used in Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) procedures. The FDA Gastroenterology and Urology Devices Panel of the Medical Devices Advisory Committee Meeting convened to seek expert scientific and clinical opinion following recent scope-related outbreaks of antibiotic resistant infections at several U.S. hospitals.
