AACR Study on Federated Network for Translational Cancer Research

December 16, 2015

The University of Pennsylvania's Abramson Cancer Center is part of the federated TIES Cancer Research Network (TCRN), a new system that facilitates data and biospecimen sharing among cancer centers. A Pitt study published in Cancer Research this week finds that the TCRN, which uses a state-of-the-art language processing system, provides a model of collaborative cancer research that may help advance precision medicine studies. With the growing need for personalized therapies and precision medicine, the development of network systems to facilitate the sharing of data and even tissue samples across centers is essential. Dr. Michael Feldman from Penn is co-author of the study.
