GRADUATE STUDIES

Graduate Studies

Graduate studies in biomedical sciences at the Perelman School of Medicine of the University of Pennsylvania fall under the auspices of the Biomedical Graduate Studies (BGS) program, the academic home at Penn for all students pursuing a PhD degree in the basic biomedical sciences or dual MD-PhD or VMD-PhD degrees. The program consists of seven biomedical graduate groups, some of which with distinct sub-specialty areas. A significant number of Department faculty members hold appointments to serve in one or more of these graduate groups:

Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics (BMB)

Cell and Molecular Biology (CAMB), with programs in:

Epidemiology and Biostatistics (GGEB)

Genomics and Computational Biology (GCB) (Graduate Group Chair: Dr. Li-San Wang)

Immunology (IGG) (Graduate Group Chair: Dr. David Allman and Vice Chair: Dr. Paula Oliver)

Neuroscience (NGG)

Pharmacology (PGG) (Admissions Co-Chair and Executive Committee Member: Dr. Margaret Chou)
