Appointment of Laurel Glaser, MD, PhD, as Assistant Director of Clinical Microbiology

The Department welcomes Laurel Glaser, MD, PhD, who will be appointed Assistant Professor of Clinical Pathology and Laboratory Medicine effective October 1, 2015, and Assistant Director of the Clinical Microbiology Laboratory at HUP. Dr. Glaser received her BS degree from Brown University and MD PhD (in Microbiology) at Mount Sinai School of Medicine. She was recruited to the pathology training program in 2009 and completed AP/CP training and also served as CP Chief Resident during that time. Dr. Glaser was subsequently selected for the two-year fellowship in Clinical Microbiology and completed her official training in June. Dr. Glaser has excellent clinical, teaching, and research expertise and will be a highly successful member in Clinical Microbiology and the department. She has a vision to strengthen collaborations between the clinical microbiology laboratory and other divisions, including Anatomic Pathology and the CPD, where there are numerous opportunities for infectious diseases test development as well as continue to work closely with colleagues in the Infectious Diseases Division of the Department of Medicine.
