Norge Vergara, MD, and Roseann Wu, MD, both Assistant Professors of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine in the Cytopathology Section, recently completed the College of American Pathologists (CAP) Ultrasound-Guided Fine-Needle Aspiration Advanced Practical Pathology Program (US-FNA AP3), which included several hours of online prework and a 2-day hands-on workshop at the CAP headquarters in Northfield, Ill. They successfully completed the required practical and cognitive assessments and received Certificates of Recognition for their completion of the intensive program. The Cytopathology Section in the Anatomic Pathology Division has acquired a portable ultrasound machine and plans to offer US-FNA in outpatient settings in the near future. The section will also be adding hands-on training for residents and fellows in US-FNA.
