Drs. Peter Davies and Michael Marks Named AAAS Fellows for 2016

Peter F. Davies, PhD, ScD, Professor of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, and Michael S. Marks, PhD, Professor of Physiology and Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, were names as 2016 Fellows of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), the world’s largest scientific society. They are among this year's 391 members who were honored for their scientifically or socially distinguished efforts to advance science or its applications. Dr. Davies was elected for his seminal discoveries in the role of mechanical forces in atherogenesis and for distinguished contributions in vascular biology and vascular pathology in general. Dr. Marks was elected for the dissection of mechanisms by which melanosomes and other lysosome-related organelles form within cells and their implications for general endolysosomal maturation.
