New Study on Effect of Displaying Test Prices in EHR to Reduce Unnecessary Testing by Clinicians

The Division of Laboratory Medicine took part in a clinical trial on reducing unnecessary testing and the high healthcare costs associated with them. A new study, led by Penn Medicine researchers and The Wharton School and published in JAMA Internal Medicine, now finds that that simply displaying the Medicare allowable fees in EHR did not have an overall impact on how clinicians ordered these tests.
