PGY-2 Resident Dr. Nya Nelson Receives Award for Best Bone and Soft Tissue Pathology Poster at USCAP

Nya Nelson, MD, PhD, PGY-2 resident in the Combined Anatomic Pathology & Clinical Pathology Program, is the recipient of the 2018 International Society of Bone and Soft Tissue Pathology’s Annual Award for Best Poster presented at this year's USCAP meeting for the following study: Nelson ND, Gui H, Brooks J, Zhang PJ. Immunohistochemical analysis of mismatch repair deficiency in 188 sarcomas. Mod Pathol 31: 34A, 2018. (#99). The Society’s Annual Award also carries a monetary sum of $500.00.

Since 2011, the International Society of Bone and Soft Tissue Pathology (ISBSTP) has presented the Annual Award to a trainee (resident or fellow) in pathology for the best poster (vs abstract) presented at the US-Canadian Academy of Pathology meeting. The selection is performed by a selected group of three judges from the Society, appointed each year from the membership. The ISBSTP Poster Award is intended to stimulate interest in the field of soft tissue and bone pathology and advance our understanding about the diagnosis, prognosis and/or pathogenesis of this collection of rare diseases.
