February 13, 2018

Alexander Macnow, MD, PGY-3 Resident in the Combined Anatomic Pathology and Clinical Pathology Program and Clinical Pathology Chief Resident 2017-18, was awarded one of the four "Penn Pearls Teaching Award," as announced during the recent House Staff Week activities organized by the House Staff Governing Council at the Perelman School of Medicine (PSOM). After a vote by close to thousand members of PSOM, Dr. Macnow was selected as one of the four residents to be honored with a Penn Pearls Teaching Award. The Penn Pearls awards, which recognize excellence in clinical teaching, are given annually by medical students to faculty and house staff as a show of gratitude and respect.

Supported by UPHS hospital leadership, the GME office, the Perelman School of Medicine, the Penn Medicine Academy of Master Clinicians, and the Nursing Practice Council, the House Staff Governing Council attends to the needs of the Residents and Fellows at the University of Pennsylvania Health System. The Council works closely with GME leadership and others throughout our hospitals to improve patient care and the quality of life of our house staff.
