Top 50 Most Influential People in Vaccines

David B. Weiner, PhD, professor of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, is among the 2014 Top 50 "Most Influential People in Vaccines," as determined by an industry poll. Dr. Weiner’s research in the area of Molecular Immunology has focused extensively on the development of gene-based vaccines and immune therapies. His laboratory was the first to move DNA vaccines to human clinical studies, establishing their initial safety and immunogenicity. He chairs the popular Gene Therapy and Vaccines Program at the University of Pennsylvania and co-directs the Tumor Virology Program of the Abramson Cancer Center at the University of Pennsylvania. The global top 50 vaccine ranking includes representatives from all vaccine-related areas such as pharmaceutical industry, government, philanthropy, academia, and show business advocates. This year's top-ranked "vaccine influencer" was once again Bill Gates.
