Nowell Pathology Interest Group
The Nowell Pathology Interest Group (NPIG) was formed for medical students to gain exposure to the diverse subspecialties and practices within pathology, as well as to provide mentorship and support to those applying to pathology residency programs. The group hosts career panels, seminars, and special events throughout the year featuring residents, fellows, and faculty from Penn Medicine’s Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine, including the Children’s Hospital of Pennsylvania (CHOP). The NPIG also collates pathology-related career resources, connects students with shadowing opportunities, and encourages membership and engagement with national pathology organizations.
The Nowell Pathology Interest Group is named after Dr. Peter Nowell, a noted cancer researcher and the co-discoverer of the Philadelphia chromosome.
